101: TANGLED FLOWERS

Messy photo, no real focus, but a little starburst of light to brighten things up.

100: STEAK

I've been thinking about having steak at the Keg for a few weeks. Luckily my friend is back in town for the weekend, and she organized a dinner at the Keg. Perfect! I just had a little 8 oz sirloin though. I wish I got that 16 oz ribeye that Ciambella Rae had.

99: THE FACE OF AN ANGEL? ...

I was helping out a nice Korean lady with her husband's medications, for which she thanked me profusely. I smiled at her in response, and she beamed at me and said, "You look like an angel!" I like customers like her.

98: IN MY ROOM

I've been feeling pretty lousy the past few days. This lethargy and lack of concentration are killing me! I don't feel like myself right now. I did muster up enough energy to take this next picture though. I wanted to try out my brother's new Nikkor 10-24mm lens. It is WIDE.

97: HEADS WILL ROLL

I stopped and did a double take when I saw these heads displayed in the windows of a random house on the street.

Red brick buildings, cherry blossoms reflecting on their windows...I like.

95: MENTAL, MORAL, AND MUSICAL BREAKDOWN

Naked + Famous
Went to the Commodore to see Foals, a band Phoebe had highly recommended for me to see, even though I didn't really know their songs. It was a very entertaining night indeed. It started off with the opening acts The Naked and Famous (love their songs) and Freelance Whales.

Freelance Whales
Then 11pm came along, and Foals started their set. The lead singer Yannis was so crazy.

He kept stage diving and crowd surfing. He threw water bottles, drum sticks, and microphone stands at the crowd. He climbed the speakers like a little monkey, then, after a few minutes, jumped all the way down to the ground, all the while with his guitar in hand.

There was a spit war between him and the other guitarist. He climbed the amps multiple times and the roadie had to hold up the amps from behind so they wouldn't fall over. Poor roadie kept having to fix all the wires and microphone stands and extra guitars that Yannis was throwing around and knocking over. Yannis even got the security guard all tangled up in the wires as he recklessly strode around the stage, whipping the mike stand and the cord around everywhere. There were times when I had my hands up to protect my head because I thought he was going to throw things at me.

He jumped into the crowd at stage right, and slowly, slowly, he crowd surfed towards me.

I took this next picture, and then, before I knew it, his foot was in my face, and he was on top of me.

I tried so hard to get his feet away from me that my bandaid came off my wrist. Unfortunately, I was surrounded by girls, and Yannis almost fell to the ground because we couldn't hold him up. Luckily for him, he was already close to the barricades at the front, so he was able to fall gracefully into the arms of the security guard, who helped him back up to the stage.

All in all, although I feared for my safety, it was a great show. Entertaining to say the least. The band tweeted afterwards that the concert was a "mental, moral, and musical breakdown. was ffffun." It was definitely fun, and they sounded great, even with all the craziness. I'm glad Phoebe convinced me that it would be worth it to go.

94: A CEMETERY AND A FLASHBACK

I decided to go to the cemetery today. No real reason, just the fact that I have never been to the cemetery in Vancouver and I had some spare time with nothing to do. I had been thinking of going to Squamish for some climbing today, but last night decided not to go because of the forecast of rain. The others still went, and it ended up being a decent day, but it was good I didn't go because today ended up being the most productive day I have had in a long time! I slept in, went to the cemetery, went shopping (and bought everything I needed), had a hot dog from my favourite hot dog guy, went to the gym, cleaned the bathroom, sewed up some loose buttons, did my taxes...it was a wonderful Saturday to myself.

The plots with the daffodils were so lovely.

Last night, I had a pleasant surprise when Giosy, who is living la dolce vita in Florence right now, popped up online. I ended up chatting with her until the wee hours of the early morning, and it made me realize how much I miss her and all my other overseas friends. I started looking through all my old pictures, and I found this gem of a photo:

My first eurotrip, a year before graduation, with Giosy and Anna (we are the three girls in non-medieval clothing). We were in Milan, and Giosy's family friend had invited us to an after-exams party. We thought she meant a house party, but we were in for a shock because it turned out to be an outdoor medieval costume party! Good memories. Italia, mi manchi...I wish I could go back.

92: TAX TIME

I decided it was time to do my taxes. But after talking to my accountant friend Jenny, I realized that the government had mailed me the wrong forms. The T1 Special isn't good enough for me anymore - those don't have a Capital Gains section and now I need the T1 General. Does anyone else do their own taxes by hand? It takes forever, and I always get a letter with corrections from the government because of all my mistakes!
