243: LIGHTHOUSE PARK, VERSION 2

I got a new plastic toy camera! It's bright yellow and half the size of my holga, and it uses 35mm film (ie. the cheap kind, compared to the expensive 120 holga film).  I scanned the film onto my computer using my film scanner, but I don't have the editing software and skills that the people at the photo lab have so my online versions aren't as sharp as my printed photos.

242: LIGHTHOUSE PARK

Phoebe and I went on a little hike in Lighthouse Park. We decided to take a shortcut through the rocks, and I spotted a very narrow "path" which turned out to be not a real path at all. In short, it was a bit of an adventure following through on this shortcut. No wonder they have signs everywhere saying "Stay on the path".

238: GOAL

f/8, shutter speed 6 seconds
A night time walk in the park. I was a bit jumpy since I was on my own and it was dark, and all the leaves kept rustling in the wind! I packed up and left as soon as I took my pictures.

237: LEAVING PENTICTON

Sad to leave the Okanagan, but glad I got to spend the weekend with some of my favorite people!

236: INNER TUBING DOWN THE CHANNEL

It was a water-filled day - first we went inner tubing down the channel between Okanagan and Skaha Lakes, then we headed to Okanagan Lake to go parasailing, then we rented pedal boats, and finally we went banana boating! I have to say that the banana boat was the most fun, although we ended up with bruises since we kept flying off the banana and landing in the water at high speeds.

Banana boat:

banana boat, also known as a water sled and often referred to simply as a banana, is an inflatable recreational boat meant for towing. It was invented by Glenn Matthews in the late 1980s. Different models usually accommodate three to ten riders sitting on a larger, main tube and resting their feet on two laterally flanking tubes which stabilize the boat. The main tube is often yellow and banana-shaped. Some models have two main tubes. During the ride, the driver of the powered boat attempts to flip the banana boat upside-down by doing sharp turns.

Our driver tried VERY hard to flip us over. And when we did fall off the banana, he would come back and smile and make thumbs up signs as we struggled to climb back on the banana.

I took all my pictures that day with a waterproof disposable camera, and I am very disappointed with the results, since almost all my pictures turned out blurry (pretty much unrecognizable) because of the condensation that had formed on the camera lens during my inner tubing. That is why I have no pictures of the rest of the day :(

235: WINE COUNTRY

We went wine tasting at five wineries in Naramata today and ended up with nineteen bottles of wine between the four of us. The funny thing is that none of us even drink alcohol very much!

234: ROADTRIP!

Looking out the window during the 5 hour drive to Penticton. I am spending 3 nights here in the Okanagan with my friends for a mini-vacation.

233: MISSING OUT

Dear NL,

I haven't been able to attend games night in years. Please plan your next one 2 weeks in advance so I can book the night off from work. I am saddened at how many games nights at your house I have missed. Do you remember that one year in university, when we beat everyone at Cranium? I still remember that night fondly, because our team was ON FIRE.

Sincerely,
Ms Arabomb-shell

232: RED BOWS

I found these never-worn slippers in the hall closet. I didn't know the closet contained such fun items.

231: NO HOPE

I am not having a good week.

229: CHINATOWN

I was supposed to get the day off today, but I woke up to find out that I was doing a closing shift instead. It was a really slow night, but I hate when people try to trick me into giving them free Oxycontin (that's the stuff that's hot on the streets right now).

228: TALL TREES

At the park in New Westminister. I went for a walk during my lunch break, which was a big mistake - I should've stayed in the nicely air-conditioned store instead!

227: A LITTLE RACHMANINOFF

I need to get this piano tuned and to start learning some Rachmaninoff. My favorite piece by him is Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op 18 I: Moderato. Too bad I don't have an orchestra at my calling.

226: GRANVILLE ISLAND

Ferry dock, Burrard Bridge, Aquabus, 9pm, dusk.
We had to wait half an hour for the bus - I amused myself by panning everything and everyone who came past me.

Bokeh: The subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image.

What are these plants called, because I really like taking pictures of them.

224: WAVES OF NAVY BLUE

The consequences of wearing a uniform during high school - having to clean out my sock drawer. All those navy blue, knee-high socks had to go. I can't believe I kept these all this time, since most of them had holes and broken seams, and some of them were hand-me-down socks from my older sister, meaning that they are fifteen years old. Some have faded quite a bit from blue to gray. They have now been purged from my room.

223: MY LAST KERNEL OF WISDOM

I finally got my last wisdom tooth out today. It was a traumatic process, especially when the hygienist had to hold my jaw steady because the dentist was using so much pressure to pry my tooth out of my gums.  They even used some metal thing to hold my tongue down. I kept my eyes closed once I saw him take out the scalpel and the gigantic needle. I'm glad it's over and this is my last one. I can't believe that whole tooth was hiding underneath my gums!
