90: FERRY FEET

On my way home from Nanaimo. I haven't had a sunny ferry ride since last summer!

89: FLOATPLANE LANDING

If only I could take a floatplane to and from the island, instead of the ferry.

88: MARINASIDE

A walk along the marina during my lunch break. My lunch today was at 3:45 (so late! Sometimes my DINNER break is at 4:15, depending on the store I am at) and then I had dinner at 6:30 at a restaurant near my hotel. I wasn't very hungry because of my late lunch, but I had to get back to the hotel on time for Gossip Girl! At the restaurant, I watched the waitress light a guy's saganaki on fire, and I would really like to go back tomorrow to try some, but I don't know if eating all that fried cheese would be good for me.

Mmm....roast lamb on the company's dollar

87: STEALING TAXIS

I totally stole someone's taxi. The taxi driver kicked me out of the car when he found out I wasn't from Wendy's, but the person wasn't on time, so he came back after a minute and told me to get in. I felt a bit bad for the person from Wendy's, but it was raining really hard and I was holding a roast chicken in my hands.

86: PLACED UPON THE HORIZON (CASTING SHADOWS)

Another protest on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery, formerly the courthouse.

85: VICTORIA SUNSET

I finished work at 6:00 and had time to kill before my 7:45 shuttle ride back to Vancouver. There was nowhere to store my stuff in the bus station, and I didn't want to just sit there,  so I ended up walking around downtown, carrying my travel backpack with my SLR in hand. However, I must not have looked touristy enough for one man, because he asked me for directions to a restaurant.  I totally knew where Nautical Nellie's was though, so I was able to point him in the right direction.

84: SHUTTLE RIDE

I woke up at 6am to catch the 7:30 cross-water shuttle heading to downtown Victoria. It arrived at 11:30 and I had time to eat a second lunch (I had my first lunch on the ferry) before heading to work for my 1:30-10 shift. I called for a taxi to pick me up after work, but it never came. I called the taxi company to ask what was going on and they said,  "The driver came and left already. He picked someone else up and thought it was you!" Wow, thank you Yellow Cab.

83: GARAGE DOORS

Or even an abandoned garage will do.

82: REFLECTION

Flower petals line the street
On the grass, on the windows, on the trees
In the reflection of the glass
Cherry blossoms raining down
Petals swirling in the wind
Love!

Ok I know it's pretty lame. I was so moved by the cherry blossoms that I felt compelled to write a poem, but I just realized that it doesn't rhyme. So here is a rhyming one instead:

On the reflection of the glass
The ground is covered with grass
In the middle stands a young tree
Its flowers very pleasing to me
Pink cherry blossoms they are
Petals sticking to the windows of the car
How I love these flowers in the spring
Even though allergies are what they also bring
People sneezing with red itchy watery eyes
Coming to me, asking me what to buy
I just want them all to go away
So I can go outside to play!

81: EMO AT HOME, PROFESSIONAL AT WORK

I think project 365 is improving my emo picture taking skills.

I got a prank call at work today from a young guy. I was very courteous while I was answering his questions because I wanted to see if he would run out of things to ask...but he didn't. My tech knew what his original question was and was quite impressed at how professional I was with him.

Him: My genitals are red and swollen
Me: Do you know why? Did you have an allergic reaction? Or an infection?
Him: No
Me: Does it hurt?
Him: Only when I touch it
Me: I think you should see a doctor
Him: I went to see the doctor and he told me to go home and call you
Me: ......
Him: It hurts when I masturbate
Me: Then I think you should refrain from doing that
Him: But I really like it
Me: But you have red swollen genitals
Him: I'm going to get laid tonight
Me: I don't think that would be a good idea. I think you should give that area a rest
Him: But I want some action
Me: But your genitals are red and swollen
Him: Do you sell sex toys?
Me: No, you would have to go to a specialty store
Him: Are you Asian?
Me: Why do you need to know that?
Him: Can I come over to talk to you?
Me: No
Him: I'm going to come over to show you
Me: Well I am going to hang up now
Him: OK

Aren't you guys jealous of the kind of people I get to deal with at work?

80: GOING SHORT

I got another haircut, this time not by a student that cost $7, but at a real salon that offered me tea and gave me a massage before the cut. After she cut my hair, the hairdresser said, "I almost never get to do this haircut, because most people aren't daring enough to do it." If I had realized how short it would be, I don't think I would have been daring enough either. The hair at the back of my head is all gone, like a man!

Another workday, another drive home, another sunset. This time I saw a fire truck.

Sunsets take my breath away.

75: THE DRIVE HOME

Today, literally two minutes after walking into work, I got a phone call from head office telling me to head over to a different store because someone called in sick. The same thing happened yesterday, except that it was two hours and not two minutes into my shift. The joys of being a floater - I am so much better acquainted with my car now as compared to seven months ago. I found out today that I still fail at parallel parking though.

74: HERE IS ANOTHER ONE

I apologize ... here is another flower picture. It seems I am in a flower phase. Does anyone know what this one is called?

73: GIOSY, NUMERO UNO

I had the honour of watching my friend, Giosy, sing a German aria at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music Gala. I was expecting it to be a good performance, but this was better than just "good". It was incredible, and she truly blew me away by the strength of her voice. Her friends and family were not the only ones who thought that she was outstanding; the judges agreed with us and awarded her first place. Congratulations Giosy, you are number WAAAAAAAAN!

72: PETALS ON THE GROUND

I am in love with cherry blossoms.

I got caught in a downpour after this, 2.5 km away from home and with no umbrella. I had to stand under a tree, stuff my SLR into my bag, sling my bag in front of me and tighten the straps so that it was up against my belly, then zip my jacket up over it. I then proceeded to run like a crazy, soaked, pregnant lady holding onto my baby (my SLR!) down the streets. I took refuge in the community center, where I walked down the hall, dripping wet, with teenagers staring at me as I noisily squeaked past them. Not my finest moment, but at least the camera is ok!

71: STREET IMPROVEMENTS

Taken on my way home from the bus stop.

I shouldn't have gone in to work today, because I wasn't on the schedule and no one knew I was coming.  Perfect excuse to stay home! For some reason, we ended up having six people doing the closing shift instead of the usual three. Usually that store stresses me to the max, but today was so nice and slow. If only it could be overstaffed everyday.

70: WHAT FLOWER IS THIS?

I like taking pictures of flowers, but I know nothing about them. I took this picture in my backyard in between rain showers. I don't even know what kind of flower this is. Please tell me if you know!

69: A DEAD LEAF

It feels like winter again because of the bitter cold and strong wind. Here is a dead leaf in the park.

68: FACING THE SUN

Today, for lunch, I had three rolls of sushi. Then I went for a little walk and took this picture. And then I went back to work and had a slice of cake.

I've been doing this "three roll sushi combo" more and more often, and I am starting to worry about a.) overeating, b.) mercury poisoning, and c.) getting indigestion due to tight pants which are caused by (a)

67: FALLEN FLOWERS

This is what I found in the garden. It makes me think of Japan. (I haven't been but I have seen pictures)

66: MY 3D FACE

This is the face I make when I wear 3D glasses. I went to see Alice in Wonderland earlier today.

65: A SEAT TO WATCH THE WORLD GO BY

This reminds me of the Greek islands, where the streets are lined with chairs so the owners can sit and people watch.

Last night I had a seemingly random dream. I was cleaning out a catheter and wasn't doing it correctly so I was spraying the guy's urine all over the place. As I was hosing down the floor, I found out that I had won a curling match. The prize was an SUV, but I didn't want it and made plans to trade it in for a smaller gas-efficient car.

This is Giosy's interpretation of my dream:
1. I had to pee (yes, I really had to when I woke up)
2. I want to go curling (yes)
3. I want to win a car (yes, I want a new car but don't want to spend money. And my parents want me to get an SUV but I want something smaller)

It turns out my dream was not so random after all!!

64: ATTENTION ALL STAFF

"There have been reports of staff lunches being eaten by other staff members."

This note made me a bit worried about putting my lunch into the staff room fridge today.

63: SPRING WILLOWS

"I love spring willows," the woman behind me commented as I took this picture. I turned around to smile at her, the branches above us swaying gently against the wind.

61: MY $7, THREE HOUR HAIRCUT

From Blanche Macdonald. The past three haircuts I have gotten, I asked for them to cut it above the chin. Fail all three times. I didn't want to wait another 3 hours for her to cut it to the length I actually wanted, so I paid my seven dollars and moved on. It's interesting how much you learn about hair when you go to a teaching salon!

60: DON'T MESS WITH MS.BOMBSHELL

That is a limited edition glow in the dark Coca Cola bottle I am holding in my hand. If you touch it, I will poke you with my stick.

59: FOR MY BIRTHDAY I WOULD LIKE...

...a doggy, please!

While most of the city was downtown celebrating Canada's victory after a heart-stopping gold medal hockey game against the USA, I decided to take a walk to the local dog park. The game had made me too excited to sit still!
