oh Miss Bombshell, I hate that she put you in such a position. Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger... so that means you'll be able to take being yelled at better! HAH!
It's understandable for a mother to be worried but no REALLY, if she were that concerned with her child's well-being then she should've taken the kid to the HOSPITAL or called 911 instead of yelling at a pharmacist, who can't do much more. Does she think you have super powers? Do pharmacists have super powers that I'm unaware of?
In conclusion, she was not only being an irresponsible mother but a disappointment to human beings.
I'll second Anna's comment. Don't be too hard on yourself, Belle. I bet she was just frustrated she couldn't soothe her baby, so she was taking her stress out on you. I'm sure it never crossed her mind how that would affect you.
On a happier note, your picture is lovely! I love the aged green on the door.
She totally knew how she was making me feel. I said, "I feel terrible" and she replied with, "I don't want to make you feel bad...but THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"
That mother was being ridiculous. She may be worried but getting this worked up can only further negatively impact her child's condition. Of course we can't exactly scold the mother like that... I think you did a great job in making up for what happened! We all make mistakes eventually, it's all about how we conduct ourselves and make up for them afterward that matter. Remember the mgr's and head office always have your back, we won't sell you short and throw you to the wolves... u know, unless we don't like you XD
I was taught the 4 A's, its a good approach that gets the more productive response usually: Acknowledge (the mistake), Accept (responsibility), Assure (it won't happen again/severity of situation/their child will make it), and Apologize (only if you did something wrong! Don't apologize if it wasn't your fault).
I like the door too! It looks so ancient and full of history! There be wise tales embedded in each rusty spot!
I agree with what everyone else said. It's too bad it happened, but it reminds you of how important your line of work is and how you can't take anything lightly (except prank calls...make sure they're really prank calls first though!) The mother was, like RaeRae said, totally taking all her stress out on you because she had no one else to direct it to. And you should in no way have been at fault because if it's a life and death situation, take it to the hospital!

That door is gorgeous...where was it from?
Well if all of the above happen, you could just pick up and move to Paris to study fashion design :)
